Starter/Sandbox Plan

When we created MongoHQ and decided to offer a starter (or sandbox) plan at no cost, the primary goal was to offer as many people as possible the ability to easily create a MongoDB database, giving them a way to explore and discover the excitement around this technology. So far, it has been a great success with people creating thousands of databases for all types of applications.

What can I use the starter plan for? We do want to emphasis that the starter databases are only for exploring, experimenting and getting an idea off the ground. Once your application has valuable data on it, we strongly encourage you to upgrade to one of our shared plans. For example, our starter databases can vary in available performance and we do use these environments, from time to time, for configuration testing.

Small Database Plan

With 2GB of data included, our Small plan is one of our most popular option for developers just getting started with their applications. Our Small plan is $15 per month and space is currently fixed at 2GB.

Large Database Plan

With 5GB of data included and built on top of powerful hardware, the Large plan is great for a data set that is actively growing. Besides the feature set listed above, our Large plans also include performance analytics that allow you to closely monitor activity on your database and plan for future growth. Our Large plan starts at $49 and additional storage over the 5GB included is only $1/mo/GB.
